Our Mission

“In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, all students need to develop their capabilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.” -- National Science Foundation

STEM INSIGHT is part of the Texas Regional STEM Degree Accelerator Project, an initiative funded by the Helmsley Foundation, administered by Educate Texas, and led by the Dallas County Community College District. The cross-functional, community partnership is committed to accelerating access to STEM education, industry information and career opportunities throughout the North Texas region—to support students, educators and professionals in finding solutions to society’s most challenging problems and enriching the lives of citizens across Texas, the region—and our world.

STEM INSIGHT exists:

1. To connect North Texas students to STEM educational paths, financial aid resources, internships, summer jobs and career opportunities.

2. To equip students to achieve their highest potential as global learners, problem solvers, innovators, inventors and critical thinkers in their professions and lives.

3. To serve as an active, vibrant STEM learning and development community for North Texas—facilitating information exchange and active engagement among students, educators, parents, employers, job seekers, researchers, government officials, professionals at all levels and related organizations.

North Texas students of the 21st century are launching their careers and lives in an increasingly complex world—defined by rapid technological innovation, growing global uncertainty, and seismic social change.  An abundant and skilled workforce with expertise in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines is imperative to assure the continuing productivity, intellectual competitiveness, and economic strength of our region.
